IMPLANTS

Implants for missing teeth

Missing teeth are perhaps the most obvious and challenging obstacle to a beautiful smile. If you have one or more missing teeth, Dr. Robert Sorokolit can show you how dental implants can solve your problem permanently. For tooth replacement, there simply is no solution that is more durable or more lifelike than a custom-designed dental implant.
Dental implants are artificial tooth replacements that were first developed half a century ago by a Swedish scientist named Per-Ingvar Branemark. Implants arose from the patient’s need to secure loose-fitting dentures.  After incredible advances in dentistry in recent years, dental implants have become a treatment of choice for people missing one, a few, or all of their teeth, and for those with failing teeth or severe periodontal disease. Dental implants look and perform more like natural teeth.

They are rooted in the bone, there is no artificial plastic on the roof of the mouth, and the need for adhesives and denture creams is eliminated. More importantly, the use of dental implants does not impact healthy, adjacent teeth.
Dental implants are long-lasting tooth root replacements that oral surgeons implant into the jawbone to simulate the root of a pre-existing tooth. For qualified patients, replacement teeth then can be restored immediately, returning a spectacular smile quickly—usually on the same day. Unlike dentures or bridges, dental implants don’t move or shift, and they can last a lifetime.
A dental implant designed to replace a single tooth is composed of three parts: the titanium implant that fuses with the jawbone; the abutment, which fits over the portion of the implant that protrudes from the gum line; and the crown that is fitted onto the abutment for a natural appearance.

Implants for people that wear dentures
If your dentures are unpleasant, the denture adhesive is upsetting, and if you want a trouble free solution then Dr. Robert Sorokolit removable denture solution may be the right one for you.
A removable denture is another form of a dental implant supported denture, but is removable for cleaning, similar to your current dentures. Unlike your current removable dentures, this dental implant supported denture is secured to dental implants, by this means eliminating the need for denture adhesives.
This removable denture is a complete dentures alternative, which “snaps” on to only two to six dental implants. When in place, a dental implant supported denture will look and function very much as your natural teeth did and allow you to chew tough foods again.
If you like your dentures already but are looking for an alternative to your denture adhesives then call our office today!!.

Advantages of Implants on Dentures
Wearing dentures speeds up the deterioration of the jawbone that occurs when teeth are missing. This results in severe discomfort as the lower denture becomes virtually impossible to wear, and remarkable changes in appearance occur as the facial structures collapse. Dental implants actually prevent bone deterioration, encourage bone regeneration, and provide a stable foundation for permanent replacement teeth.

Post Implant Care
Although proper oral hygiene is always recommended for maintaining good dental health, it is especially important when a patient has received a dental implant. Bacteria can attack sensitive areas in the mouth when teeth and gums are not properly cleaned, thus causing gums to swell and jaw bones to gradually recede. Recession of the jawbone will weaken implants and eventually make it necessary for the implant to be removed. Patients are advised to visit their dentists at least twice a year to ensure the health of their teeth and implants. Dental implants can last for decades when given proper care.
